Indiana is an incubator of global citizen-to-citizen interactions. One may not necessarily expect great innovation in foreign aid to come from the Midwest, yet Hoosiers are engaging in inventive aid efforts.

To highlight these extraordinary efforts, Sagamore has created the Indiana-Africa Connections Project, a database of individuals and organizations in the state that are connected to Africa through various mediums including volunteerism and business.

Through this research we have discovered that Indiana has an incredible community of innovative and compassionate individuals who are doing extraordinary work in Africa. From the IU-Kenya partnership to the Bryantsville Hunger Relief Project, the state has an enormous unofficial community devoted to Africa, and we now hope to shine a spotlight on this community.

Additionally, 20 years ago, Indiana University formed a partnership with the Moi University School of Medicine in Eldoret Kenya. This collaboration has led to one of the most effective programs for treating HIV/AIDS in Africa. It also has generated hundreds of personal and professional connections between Indianapolis and Eldoret.

This year, we're excited to be launching the Sagamore Fellows Program, a semester-long public policy course for undergraduate students from Africa and Indiana. Read more in the section below.
